Here’s a short video highlighting the awesome middle school retreat this year, The Plunge 2009!
Man, what has been going on since last time I posted? I know, I know… so sorry. It won’t happen again!
Actually, we’ve been so busy!
After The Battle Within, we did a series I basically had the idea for called Cozy. I love it when our staff can come together and listen to a lowly intern and form a whole idea and series around a little thought. So good. Anyway, the series was awesome as we talked about taking comfort in God while at the same time not getting too cozy to the point of complacency. Below are series art and bumper for it if you want to watch. Don’t worry, it’s short.

Sweet. That series was awesome. After that, we did a series called Not That Into You (we just finished that one), which was awesome for a lot of students. These talks centered around students feeling like they’re out of touch with God and where/how things went wrong. A lot of students battled with that and I know have a new fire kindled in their hearts to passionately run after God. That’s amazing to me. Here’s the series artwork and bumper for it, too by the way. I know you love this multimedia, 21st century technology. Love it, embrace it, watch it!

So we did a series called The Battle Within, and I’m proud to say that I had the opportunity to write with Scott, shoot, and edit the bumpers for the series. We decided the approach could be a very fitting True Hollywood Story style look into the life of a boxer. Each week’s video matched up with the Biblical principal David McCaman taught. Check ‘em out, let me know what you think!

Here in the LifePoint Church student ministry, we started to do another book study like we’ve done in the past. I’m glad for this opportunity because we’re reading Francis Chan’s Crazy Love. We’re 2 chapters in after one week and I’m already loving what it’s doing for my spiritual life. Talking and learning about God’s power and glory and our arrogance and big-headedness is refreshing. It’s great to eval and grow in your personal faith and doing it with the strongest staff I know is even better. Pick up a copy and read it if you haven’t… worth it.

So I’ve began to do my quiet time and Bible study from Isaiah. This book is very uplifting and reassuring. When I read it, I can feel God’s power and see it. I’m on Isaiah 43 today and I just wanted to share this part that stuck out to me:

So tomorrow at 6:30 we’re all combined as students and I have the opportunity to preach! It’s about time, I was feeling antsy about wanting to, so now I get the chance! A few weeks ago I got to teach to our middle school group on Sunday morning which was great for the setting, but I’m getting excited and nervous (as I often do) for tomorrow night. Pray things go smoothly and that God speaks through me as I talk about bringing God into your schools.

So camp is 3 days finished and I’m finally slowing down and catching up. God moved in some amazing ways while we were down there. Philip Martin was the camp speaker, and the kids really connected with the direction he chose to speak in. I loved seeing the students also respond during worship led by Micah Huebner and band as well. I feel that it’s set a new standard of worship experiences in our town. Over 23 first time salvation decisions were made and many more students pledged to be baptised. I can’t wait to see the life change in these students begin to affect our area! Overall it was just an amazing week. I had a wonderful time going as stuff, pretty much fulfilling my standard role as an intern there at the camp. It was more than just that though, I loved the power and responsibility and influence I had there. I loved making things happen and GTD. God taught me a lot even during worships and during my breakout sessions (which went great!) and I’m excited to move forward and gun for even more involvement and responsibility here at LifePoint Church.
(Note: I realize this is choppy. My eyes are still so heavy right now though, I can’t even think straight. Maybe you’ll get an edit later though. If not, I still love you all.)

Sitting at Starbucks, 36 hours from when we leave for Camp Whatever and I’m finally finishing the breakout I’m teaching, Picture a Life of Significance. I’m so excited to share with kids about living a life that sticks out against the world and makes people notice something different about their lives. I got a great response from students and leaders alike last year after teaching my breakout on Leadership, so I want to be sure I offer another good experience for these kids to learn and grow.
When I’m finished, I’ll post my outline on here.
Praying for camp, love you all.
